"Never Again 9066" is a class rooted in the unconstitutional incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II. The class presents leading scholars, artists, and designers, and surviving concentration camp inmates share their perspectives of this gross injustice to more than 120,000 individuals of Japanese ancestry, two thirds of whom were American citizens. From this immersive experience, students researched and developed visually dynamic artworks, engaging educational materials, and a public display sharing key aspects of Japanese American history and relating them to issues of civil liberties in the present.
